23 October 2017

Culture+Conflict in partnership with the Whitechapel Art Gallery, a panel exploring the relationship between geopolitics, conflict and climate change.

Whitechapel Art Gallery | 7-8.30pm Thursday 26 October 2017
Booking and further information here

Speakers: Fiona Harvey (The Guardian); artist Simon Faithfull; Professor of Climate and Culture, Mike Hulme (Kings College London); and artist Jasmijn Visser; chaired by Michaela Crimmin (C+C)

Representing a shared interest in environmental issues but from different perspectives and ways of working covering art, journalism, academia, members of the panel discuss their work and speculate about the future. The event marks the UK launch of Jasmijn Visser’s publication ‘Conflict Atlas: Geopolitics and Contingencies’, the result of extensive research into the sets of relationships that link the peripheral and the rural to global politics, drawing on the unresolved conflict of the Falklands/Islas Malvinas, and its ongoing ecological and social impact.

In collaboration with Metahaven and Archive Books, and with the generous support of Goethe-Institut London.
